Transport within Paris

Practically speaking, the metro or on foot is the best way to “live Paris”. A car presents many problems in Paris, traffic jams are common, parking is difficult.

Travelling to Paris

Most people travelling from overseas will arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport, also known as CDG – Roissy, to the north of Paris.
The airport has a very efficient direct rail link to the Gare-du-Nord, the RER B line, this train also continues to the Quartier Latin (Saint Michel or Cluny-Sorbonne stops), this is the recommended way of travelling into Paris.
A taxi from CDG to Paris is a minimum of 50 euros and the rush-hour traffic jams (7-10am and 5-8pm) around Paris during the work-week can make the journey by car far longer.
